海ちゃんは2013/8/15にが我が家の家族になりました。
その日は当時同居していた母親の月に一度の感謝デーで和田浦に出かけていました。
感謝デーは道の駅等に出かけて外食をする日です。
その日は丁度お盆休みで和田漁港を散策してから「道の駅 和田浦WA•O」で食事をして帰る予定でした。
私は海が見たかったので、妻と母親を道の駅に残して、一人で和田漁港に出かけました。
そして防波堤から消波ブロックに降りて海を見ていたら海ちゃんと出会いました。
海ちゃんは和田漁港の防波堤の消波ブロックの中にいました。
私が海を眺めていると何か視線を感じたので振り向くと、そこに海ちゃんが居ました。
私は目の前に掌に乗るほど小さい子猫が居るという予想外の出来事に驚いていると、海ちゃんはまた消波ブロックの中に入って行きました。
私は我に返りこのまま海ちゃんを見失ってしまったら大変なことになると思い、私も消波ブロックの中に入って海ちゃんを探しました。
しかし直ぐに海ちゃんを保護することができたので、とても安心しました。
海ちゃんが消波ブロックの奥に入ってしまったら、もはや救出できないからです。
私は海ちゃんを無事保護することができたのでほっとしていたのですが、直ぐに次の問題が発生しました。
道の駅にいる妻と母親に何と言って説明をしようか？
その当時我が家にはもう既に4匹の保護猫がいました。
しかしせっかく保護した手のひらサイズの小さな子猫をまたその場所に置いて行く選択肢はないので、私は「道の駅 和田浦WA•O」に向かって歩き出しました。
その後は海ちゃんをバックに入れて3人で昼食を取ろうとしたのですが、海ちゃんが元気良く鳴いて他の客に迷惑が掛かるので、私は簡単に食べれ物を買って車の中で海ちゃんと待つことにしました。
せっかく3人で外食しに来たのですが、妻と母親も早々に食事を済ませて家に帰ることにしました。
そしてその日から海ちゃんとの生活が始まり明日で11年目を迎える訳です。
妻と母親は海ちゃんを最初に見た時に驚いてはいたものの直ぐに受け入れてくれました。
海を見に行って出かけたら子猫を連れて帰ってくるわけですから驚いて当然ですね！

Umi-chan became part of our family on August 15, 2013.
That day was the monthly appreciation day for my mother, with whom we were living at the time, so my wife, my mother and I went to Wadaura.
Appreciation Day is a day to go to roadside stations and other places to eat out.
That day was the Obon holiday, so I planned to stroll around Wada Fishing Port and then have a meal at the Wadaura WA•O Roadside Station before heading home.
I wanted to see the ocean, so I left my wife and mother at the roadside station and went to Wada Fishing Port alone.
Then I went down from the breakwater to the wave-breaking blocks and was looking at the ocean when I met Umi-chan.
Umi-chan was inside the wave-breaking blocks of the breakwater at Wada Fishing Port.
As I was looking out at the sea, I felt someone looking at me, so I turned around and saw Umi-chan there.
While I was surprised by the unexpected sight of a kitten small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, Umi-chan went back into the wave-breaking blocks.
I came to my senses and realized that if I lost sight of Umi-chan, it would be a disaster, so I went inside the wave-breaking blocks to look for her.
However, I was very relieved that we were able to rescue Umi-chan immediately.
Once Umi-chan goes behind the wave-breaking blocks, there is no way to rescue her.
I was relieved that I was able to safely rescue Umi-chan, but soon the next problem arose.
What should I say to explain this to my wife and mother at the roadside station?
At that time, we already had four rescue cats in our home.
However, I couldn’t just leave the tiny palm-sized kitten that I had rescued there again, so I started walking towards Wadaura WA•O Roadside Station.
After that, I put Umi-chan in my bag and planned to have lunch with my wife, mother and I, but Umi-chan was barking so loudly that it would be a nuisance to the other customers, so I decided to just buy something simple to eat and wait with Umi-chan in the car.
Although my wife, mother, and I had come out to eat together, they decided to finish their meal early and go home.
And from that day on, my life with Umi-chan began, and tomorrow marks the 11th year since then.
My wife and mother were surprised when they first saw Umi-chan, but they quickly accepted her.
I went out to see the ocean and came back with a kitten, so my wife and mother were naturally surprised!
