室温が気になる季節になりましたね。 It’s that time of year when we start to worry about room temperature.

7月に入り暑さもいよいよ本格的になりましたね。

飼い猫7匹の平均年齢は10歳になり、我々夫婦も平均年齢が約70歳になりこの季節の室温がとても気になります。

Copilot（コパイロット）さんに、室内で飼育している猫の室温について聞いた結果、以下の答えが返ってきました。

夏の適温：25～28℃ 　これより高くなると、特に高齢猫や長毛種、肥満傾向のある子には負担が大きくなります。

30℃を超えると要注意！：熱中症のリスクが高まるので、28℃を超えたら冷房をつけることをおすすめします。

と言う回答が帰って着ました。

なるほどなと思いながら室温計を見てみると、28.7℃有りました。

湿度も75％あるので、いまだ正にエアコンを入れるタイミングだなと思いました。

しかし我が家はマンションの5階で風通しも良いので、この温度だとエアコンのスイッチを入れたことはありません。

いつも30℃を超えたら自分も我慢できないのでエアコンのスイッチを入れていました。

また猫たちも特に元気がなかったり、食欲が落ちたりしていなかったのであまり気にしていませんでしたが、猫たちも我々夫婦も高齢なので今までの考え方を改める必要がありそうです。

猫たちも我々夫婦も元気がなくなってからでは遅いので、今後はCopilot（コパイロット）さんの提案通り28℃を超えたらエアコンのスイッチを付けようと思います。

Now that July has arrived, the heat has really started to set in.

The average age of our seven cats is 10 years old, and my wife and I are around 70 years old on average, so we are very concerned about the room temperature during this season.

When we asked Copilot about the room temperature for indoor cats, he gave us the following answer:

Ideal temperature in summer: 25-28°C. Temperatures higher than this can be a big burden on older cats, long-haired breeds, and cats prone to obesity.

Be careful when the temperature exceeds 30°C: The risk of heatstroke increases, so we recommend turning on the air conditioner when the temperature exceeds 28°C.

The answer came back.

I thought that made sense, and when I looked at the room temperature it read 28.7°C.

The humidity is also at 75%, so I thought it was still the perfect time to turn on the air conditioner.

However, our house is on the fifth floor of an apartment building and is well ventilated, so we have never had to turn on the air conditioner at this temperature.

I usually turn on the air conditioner when the temperature goes over 30 degrees Celsius because I can’t stand it.

Also, the cats didn’t seem particularly lethargic or have lost their appetite, so I wasn’t too worried, but as both my wife and I and the cats are getting older, it seems we need to change our way of thinking.

It’ll be too late once both the cats and my wife and I start to feel unwell, so from now on I’ll follow Copilot’s suggestion and turn on the air conditioner when the temperature exceeds 28°C.
